Whatever else history may say about me when Im gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with libertys lamp guiding your steps and opportunitys arm steadying your way.

This statement was one of the last public messages that the late Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States made. His journey ended this past Saturday, when he went to be with the Lord. His battle with disease was over, and he suffered no more. He prepared us for this moment in 1994, and the moment we had been dreading has come, and now has gone by. The leagacy of his life, his contributions to his country and to the world will life as long as our flag flys over this nation. There are quite a few memorials in his name already, including an international airport in Washington, D.C., and the newest nuclear aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

Today we remember this great man, and hope that his legacy and wishes will come true for all of us.
